Tourism and Hospitality

Tourism and Hospitality content marketing is different from travel writing. A young backpacker might be able to excite a reader to visit your property or destination, however, can you really expect him to understand your needs as well?

Have WIFI, Will Travel

A travel writer should be a traveler. I have extensively traveled for over 30 years. From Camping to cruises to Luxury hotels, from run down buses to private jets, I have experienced the world. I consider myself a part time Digital Nomad as I travel for 6 months each year

Scuba Diving

Scuba Divers can tell if an article was written by an experience diver. Poorly written material reflects on you and being look at as an authority. Certified in 1997 with over 500 dives. In 2014 over 150 webpages, 100 articles and 250 curated items for Scuba Diving Websites

Content Marketing

My background allows me to write in a wide range of topics and extends beyond basic content for webpages. Brochures, Press Releases, E-mail campaigns, marketing plans and business plans are all within my scope.

About Me and Contact information

Depending on my mood or who you are talking too, I am either a Freelance writer and business developer or semi-retired. Some of my friends call me a traveling beach bum. Yes, I do enjoy being near the water and I do travel often. Up to 60% of my time is spent away from my base in the Philippines. I have embraced being Location Independent for almost 20 years and being a Digital Nomad for the last 6 years. Being a writer and business developer in tourism and hospitality blends nicely with being location independent. Being Location Independent also means I can take some onsite consultancy assignments without disrupting my work for other clients.  Please use the linkin link to see a resume highlighting my background.

I use both traditional methods and online platforms in my writing business strategy. My online clients are mostly through the freelance platform Elance. Some of my online clients have been direct. Currently my distant clients make up about 70% of my client base.

I generally keep my work load light, which allows me to take on projects that interest me without scheduling conflicts. Long term clients make up about 50% of my workload. As you can tell from this website, I mostly write about scuba diving and travel extending out to all hospitality and tourism topics. The business consultant assignments I have accepted are generally related to these fields as well.

I do not want to sound egotistical, however, my time and skills are valuable. I also place a value on my leisure time. I am not giving up my free time to write a 10,000 word e-book for $50. My Elance profile states my minimum hourly rate is $50. The rate depends on the complexity of the subject and the type of product. On writing assignments that require little research, I generally prefer an article rate. Fix rates generally are equal to a lower hourly rate.
